St. Valentine was an early Christian cleric who defied Roman authority by performing Christian marriages. He did this in order to spread The Faith. The Romans had an established pantheon of Gods & Goddesses. Back then, as now, much treasure flowed into the religious temples of the day. Valentine’s action represented a huge threat not only to the religious structure of the day, but to economic welfare of the Roman state. He was martyred for his defiance.
Today this early Christian act of defiance has evolved into a “Hallmark Holiday”. It’s a holiday for love and lovers. You can love many doesn't have to be a significant other husband, or girlfriend, boyfriend, or wife. It can be your child you love mother, father, or for children classmates. Valentine's Day to me is all about love giving and receiving and expressing it. Love is important and we all need it and want it in our lives.
For Valentine’s Day many things can be done. Grade school children exchange Valentine's Day Cards at school parties. Adult's share candy flowers and roses and might even cook or go out to dinner. Personally, Valentine's Day I want a person to feel loved. For me Valentine's Day can be 365 day's – every day. Singles, don't you worry there is a Valentine time for you so don't stress and be sad on Valentine's Day for everyone has someone who loves them. My hope in life is everyone feels loved every day. I wrote this poem to share!
Thank you St. Valentine! Happy Valentine's Day!
