My writer’s goal in 2015 is to write and publish about 100 items: articles, poetry, and yes even stories. I am 33 years old, and all my life I had a huge desire to share my creative side with the world but did not know how to do that and my fears with the unknown prevented me from getting started. Especially now, that I am a mother to a 7 year old, who needs my time while I am homeschooling. I need to find ways to make money and possibly a career in doing something I love doing. Because working long hours for minimum wage and spending less quality time with my family, was never the kind of life I dreamt as a child.

I honestly thought, I would be making a living bring joy to others… But right now, I am stuck on figuring out how I can go about doing that: bring joy. I am currently working on a few things to build my “writers” platform so to speak.

I currently have a virtual gallery in a virtual world, where I display my writings on images, for others to view and possibly purchase for their virtual property and/or business. My gallery is teaching me on what it feels like to run a business, because even though it is in a gaming format, I still have to do everything to make my event and the business successful. I have to promote, advertise, and get new people in the door to drum up new sells. So this virtual gallery is teaching me a lot about running a business and also help boost my creative confidence.

After receiving about months of positive feedback from people visiting my virtual gallery, I was encourage to set up a business page on Google, to help bring my virtual experience into real life. I even setup a blog to help keep people up to date on any business activities like: new articles I posted, my thoughts for the day, and other important related issues.

I am also thinking about creating and owning a website where both the virtual self and the real creative self can be viewed and access in one central place. And I am also thinking about using Youtube, to post custom videos. But those ideas are still in the air.

I also have two writing sites I am currently posting my work on. I used to publish all my work on just one site, but that one site devastated me when they closed down. Because they did not give their writers adequate time to save any articles before they shut down. So it took me a long time to bounce back from that devastating blow to my self-esteem and my confidence. And from that experience, I learned to always have backups to all my writings, and never put all my “eggs” in one basket. This will also help keep me diversified.

Ooooh, I almost forgot, I am also a new writer to this online magazine. Even though, I was on the Yearbook staff back in my high school days, I didn’t know how or even thought I was good enough to apply to work at a magazine, much less an online magazine. But when I discovered this company in the virtual world, and met with their friendly staff, I was so excited to join. I know the experience will be well worth my time, energy, and will help me stay focus with my writing goals, which will also help boost my creative confidence.

Right now, I need to focus on one thing at a time. 1st: Focus on having a successful virtual gallery event. 2nd: Write and Publish more articles on my writing sites and/or for the online magazine. 3rd: Find ways to make money doing something I love doing in the process.

If I remember to keep these goals in the forefront of my mind, I have confidence that this New Year will be great for me.

I wish you all the luck, as you start tackling your own individual goals for 2015.
