Dear Andi/Andy, Labor Day

By DeGrey

When did they start to celebrate “labor day”?

Do we really need a day to celebrate the birth process?

What is all this non-sense?

Dear C-in-C,

Good to hear from you again, C-in-C! Every society has its birth rituals. “Labor Day” is NOT one of these rituals! Labor, in the case of Labor Day, means “work”. While delivering a baby is real work, the spirit of Labor Day is to celebrate the hard work done by all people from all walks of life. From the apple-grower to the zebra-cage cleaner – every worker is honored on Labor Day. It is the labor done every day in this country that feeds us, moves us, entertains us, and keeps us safe. We thank each and every worker on this Labor Day, even the Confused-In-Columbus.
