Dear Confused,

This is a common issue, especially for those of us in the generations prior to 2000. We are getting along in years and it may be that our Mothers have passed on. I cannot tell you how YOU should deal with this issue but I can share some ways that have helped me and others I know to cope.

Commiserate

Remember the good times. Share stories with your siblings on social media. Reach out to siblings of your Mother who are still living. Share.

Visit

Go to the Gravesite / Memorial to your Mother. Leave a token of your visit – medal, flower, some tears.

Celebrate

Get out the old picture albums or movies/video clips and celebrate the good times. Do this with family.

Pray

Speak with whatever God/Gods you worship and thank them for your ancestry – beginning with your Mother.

C-In-C, do any or all of the above and you will deal with your feelings.

Best wishes,

~Andi/Andy (I miss you, Mom.)
