Recipe
Basic Bone Broth By Anne Morrison & Sandy Wesson www. restorebalancenutrition. com
INGREDIENTS: 3 lbs of bones ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar 4 carrots 4 celery stalks 2 medium onions 4 clove garlic 2 bay leaves 1 tsp Himalayan or Celtic Sea Salt 1 tsp peppercorns 3 sprigs parsley
Place all ingredients in crock-pot / stockpot & cover with filtered water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer gently. For a more clear broth, remove beef marrow after a couple hours and use with a different recipe. Continue to simmer the marrow bones. Simmer for 24-48 hours.
Turn heat off to cool slightly. Discard solids and strain remainder through a colander or for clearer broth you can strain through a cheese cloth.
When broth is cool, fat will become a solid on top and can be removed and used as tallow in cooking or fat can be heated in the broth( how you tolerate bone broth can be a diagnostic tool for nutritional therapists).
Use within a week or freeze up to 3 months.
Organic, local, grass-fed marrow bones make collagen and a nutritious, gelatinous broth. You can roast them for an hour to add richness.
