Q: Last year my corn patch did great but this year the leaves are
yellow and the plants look sad. Is this from planting them in the
same place several years in a row?
Corn likes high levels of nitrogen in the soil, if grown
in the same soil for several seasons the soil becomes
depleted. Imbalance in soil health is manifested by
deficiencies in plants and roots. Our atmosphere
is 78% nitrogen! Only certain plants like legumes
(beans and peas) capture it to bring it into their plant
body. It is the collective work of fungi, protozoa,
and organisms like earthworms that hold the key to
unlocking nutrients in your garden. Soil is alive, like
the microbiome of the human body. While corn con-
sumes high levels of nitrogen, legumes return it, and
this is why rotating crops increases the health and
productivity of your garden.

about your birth as the
anniversary approaches and there are many ways
to process your experience to help you release any
blame, it was not your fault. 1) talk to your partner
or someone you trust; 2) look up expressive writing,
give it a try; 3) consider scheduling an annual exam
with your prenatal care provider to share your feel-
ings; 4) talk to someone who was not involved, like a
counselor, to go deeper into what it meant for you.
Childbearing is a time of great transition. It’s normal
to have hopes, dreams, and fears about pregnancy,
childbirth, and parenting will be like. Through living
your experience, you discover your own unique
story. Part of giving birth is letting go. We all benefit
from exploring ways to learn from and let go of the
past so we can live in the present.

magical garden before Christmas." We had been looking for a house we could afford on a Teacher and Massage
Therapists budget, for over 2 years without any luck. I wrote this dream scenario and then sort of forgot about it,
until about 2 weeks later when I found a house for $285,000 we got it & received our keys on 12/23 just before
Christmas! The garden is truly magical, fertile soil, sunlight, drip irrigation, crystals and hag stones! The whole
