The Junior Film Fleadh is the young people’ s arm of the prestigious Galway Film Fleadh. Running for 4 days in November, the festival is curated with young people in mind and includes an array of features, shorts, animations, workshops and an annual story pitching competition. The festival celebrates the magic and power of cinema in educating, entertaining and informing.
2017’ s festival screened a range of contemporary language films to support the curriculum in French, German and Spanish including‘ Ma Vie De Courgette’( Senior French)‘ Le Voyage de Fanny’( Junior French)‘ Goodbye Berlin’( Senior German) and for Spanish‘ RaRa’( winner of Grand Prize Berlin 2016). As well as providing insights into contemporary culture and language these films explored themes relevant to young people. All of the films were introduced and supported by specially written resource guides. An outreach programme includes Irish language shorts( in association with Foras na Gaeilge) and new German films( with support from Goethe Institut Irland) bringing cinema into the classroom

Additionally the festival continues to put the work of young people centre stage with Future Filmmakers which showcased the vast array of filmmaking talent in schools, young groups and summer camps.
