CELEBRATING
10th – 11th May 2018
SALLYNOGGIN COLLEGE
Sallynoggin College is celebrating a very special
birthday this year! An unbelievable 50 years of
teaching are behind us. With each of these
fabulous 50 years behind us, Sallynoggin College
of Further Education has evolved, and seen many
changes within the college and our community.
Our students have grown up and have progressed
in their careers. They have recommended their
children, friends and family members to come and
study with us. Some past students have even
come back to teach with us. Our students are
working all around the world and each year they
give us a great deal to be proud of. We are
delighted to be able to look forward to many more
interesting careers and life journeys beginning at
Sallynoggin College this year. As part of our
celebrations of this 50th year, we will be enjoying
plenty of new events and activities with our
students over the coming months.
PERFORMING ARTS
SHOWCASE, at the Lexicon, Dun
Laoghaire, 16th to 19th April 2018
Our Art and Photography students will present an end-of-year
Exhibition of their work in the auditorium of Sallynoggin College
in May 2018. Taking a trip down memory lane, they will also
present artwork and photography which celebrates some of our
past student’s work. For those of you who missed our Open
Day this will be a perfect chance to pop in, visit the college and
join in our 50th celebrations.
It’s all hush, hush at the moment, as the Level 6
Advanced Performing Arts students are keeping their
show under wraps while they devise their characters
and scenes. However, we can reveal that it will be set
in a TV studio and will feature lots of comedic scenes
and characters.
As for the Level 5 students; as we speak they are well
into rehearsals for an adaptation of A.R. Gurney’s
‘The Dining Room’, a play set in one dining-room over
a few decades. Each actor will play a range of
different roles throughout. It all promises to be a
week of engaging theatre. Can’t wait!!!
“I learned and achieved so much in two
years and thoroughly enjoyed making
friends and eventually qualifying in
advanced hair and beauty. Co-
ordinators were wonderful and all the
staff are so pleasant and ready to help.
Best decision I made and I would
recommend the college to anyone who
is looking to achieve career and future
goals.”

“Thanks to the excellent course in social
studies I did here years ago, I graduated
in a level 8 with honors in Social
Science. It was the level five in SCFE
which got me into university, as well as
giving me crucial study skills. I'm now
going on to do my master’s degree!”

WE ARE FASHION –
Wednesday 18th April 2018

Fashion Industry Practice students have been
developing themes, mood-boards and ideas for our
upcoming Fashion Event. They will be styling and
showcasing looks that celebrate 50 years of fashion as
part of our SCFE 50th celebrations. A retrospective of
10 years of Fashion Industry Practice photo-shoots,
presenting looks styled by our past students, will also
be on display at Filmbase during the Fashion Event.
Model castings will be taking place throughout the
college over the coming months, with students from all
courses in the college participating in the show.
Fashion Design students are also busily crafting their
design ideas into finely constructed garments and we
look forward to seeing them present their visions for
the future of fashion at this year’s We Are Fashion
Event on Wednesday 18th April in Filmbase, Temple Bar.
