TO PROGRESS TO THIRD LEVEL
Our courses are designed to prepare students for
employment and third level education in an adult-
friendly environment. In Pearse College, mature
students returning to education mix with school
leavers, teachers and students, working together to
discover capabilities, explore possibilities and realise
potential.
It is an exciting and inspirational place to learn, with a
highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff, excellent
facilities, a unique atmosphere and a proven track
record.
RANGE OF COURSES
The college has a broad range of courses suitable for
both career enhancement and preparation for further
studies.
The course areas are Architecture, Food Science,
Horticulture, Business (Global Marketing and Retail),
Coding and Software Development (including the STEM
maths programme), Languages and European Studies,
Soccer Coaching and Gym Instruction.
We also offer the Repeat Leaving Certificate course with
a wide range of subjects from Design and
Communication Graphics to Chemistry and Physics.
Maths is offered across the three levels.
PROGRESSION TO THIRD LEVEL
Most of our courses offer opportunities for progression
to third level. Every year students from our Adult and
Repeat Leaving Certificate courses go on to third level
in the Universities and the Institutes of Technology.
Our Coding and Software Development course has
students who have gone to courses in DIT and IT
Tallaght and we are one of the few PLC colleges to offer
the STEM maths programme.

We have strong links to Waterford IT, Carlow IT and DIT
from our Architectural Technology and Design course.
We also continue the tradition of our students from the
Horticulture Department going on to third level, with
students from Pearse College currently in each year of
the B.Sc. Horticulture degree in the Botanic Gardens.
Our Food Science, Business, Languages and European
Studies and Soccer courses have successful
progression routes also.
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
We have an excellent guidance and counselling
department which will guide and help you through
your course and help you to choose the right options.
FACILITIES
Pearse College has an excellent range of facilities which
include 3 state of the art science labs and a wonderful
complementary medicine suite as well as architectural
draughting studios. We also have access to a gym and
sports centre with a wide range of activities.
