Sallynoggin College of Further
Education (SCFE) takes pride in
providing a first class service
and experience to all its
students in a warm welcoming
environment with a pleasant
and kind atmosphere.
Are you interested in a career which is diverse,
challenging and contributes to society? Then
you should consider a Level 5 or 6 course in
Childcare, Social Studies or Youth Work. You
will develop the core skills, knowledge and
preparation for successful employment in the
social and caring sectors or for further study.
Quality services are central to successful
interventions and these need to be provided
by appropriately trained professionals who
must perform effectively at all times. SCFE
students gain a sound understanding of many
of the core principles, the regulatory and
legislative frameworks and the key skills
needed to work in this sector.
Recruitment opportunities in the public sector
are improving. A major recruitment drive for
the Garda and Prison Service is underway. The
Irish Association of Social Workers is calling
for the numbers of social workers to be
substantially increased. The knowledge and
skills that you will acquire on these courses as
an effective communicator, problem solver
and creative thinker, are highly valued in
today’s world of work.
Sallynoggin College offers a wide choice of
other courses, including Tourism, Performing
Arts and Commercial Floristry. It has an
unrivalled reputation for its Fashion courses
which attract some of the most talented male
and female designers and stylists. The college
maintains excellent facilities and equipment
including specialised studios for Hairdressing
and Beauty, Personal Training, Dance,
Photography and Art. A strong emphasis is
placed on collaboration and entrepreneurship
across all disciplines. This develops invaluable
skills in teamwork, innovation and initiative –
essential for all types of job opportunities and
self-employment.
In addition to the excellent teaching provided
on all Sallynoggin College courses, you will
also receive a high level of support, which will
allow you to get the maximum benefit from
your studies. Former students identify this
supportive relationship between the students
and staff as critical to their success.
Many sixth years may apply to a Post Leaving
Cert course merely as a safety net should their
CAO choice not materialise. However it is
important to realise that QQI accredited
courses at level 5 and 6 from a college like
SCFE are the correct choice for your direct
entry to certain careers or ideal preparation to
progress and succeed at Third Level
