Blanca Beatriz Caraballo was born in Sancti
Spiritus, Cuba in 1969, studied Plastic Arts
Education at the Higher Institute of
Education “Enrique Jose
Varona”(Columbia) in Havana, school that
is known for producing a generation of
great artists. During her years in Havana,
she witnessed the social transformation
that was generated through the visual arts.
In 1991 she moved to Miami, Florida where
currently lives, continuing her education in
the arts at Miami-Dade College and Florida
International University. She was part of
the Miami–based artistic feminine
collective (w-10) with whom she
participated in many exhibitions exploring
female issues. Working mainly in drawing
and painting, Blanca has also produced
poetry, installations, sculpture, mail art
and book arts. She has participated in
many international and local exhibitions.
In 2011, Blanca joined Giants in the City
public arts exhibition project with an
inflatable sculpture “God Save the Queen”,
in which she explores the role of
femininity. Blanca was invited to
participate in the Giants in the City, Prome
Encuentro Bienal Contemporaneo di
Caribe, Paradera, Aruba 2012 as part of the
project.
