Interviewer: So she didn't really want you to worry. Is that the case?

Andrea: It was mainly that I didn't know myself. I didn't know that I had cancer until I was here in Fresno. Again, which was weeks after. Nobody had told me what it was, they just said "oh you pretty much just need blood," and that's it.

Interviewer: How many weeks was it later when you knew you had cancer?

Andrea: About three weeks because I was in the hospital in Mexico for two weeks, and then one week recovery.

Interviewer: When you found out you had the big C, how did both of you handle that with each other?

Andrea: Well I text him from the hospital. I was in the emergency room when they finally decided to tell me having mind my whole family knew except for myself. I text him when I was being admitted and I told him "I have cancer," and his response was just very sad.

Interviewer: Wow. That's pretty heavy duty, you watching her go through this whole process and you were both doing this together. You been with each other for seven year. Obviously, you both love each other very much and you see your future together. How many chemo therapies have you been through since?

Andrea: Eleven with this one.

Interviewer: Wow. So you have one more so they say 12 altogether?

Andrea: Yup. They said was 12.

Interviewer: When will you have the next one? Since you just had one now, how many weeks in between the next one?

Andrea: It's every two weeks so I have it next Monday again.

Interviewer: Oh, every two weeks. Now that you're going through this, how do you feel now?

Andrea: You know, very eager to get this over with because I feel like I've gone through so much this entire year alone. It seems to be getting harder as time passes by, as I'm getting closer.

Interviewer: You're getting weaker?

Andrea: Oh yeah, definitely.

Interviewer: Yeah you feel like you're getting weaker because your body is getting beat up.

Andrea: Yeah, I mean how do you tell your body you're going to be killing it slowly? It's very difficult to do.

Interviewer: How the heck are you able to have the drive to enter Miss California? How did you have the strength to do that?

Andrea: It was something that I wanted to do since I was a little girl. It was definitely something that my Grandpa always wanted for me but he unfortunately passed away about three years ago. He always wanted it for me. He always called me his princess. At the time the doctors gave me a time limit for my life.

Interviewer: What was the time limit of your life?

Andrea:Two to five years. Or I'm sorry six months to two years it was.

Interviewer: That was what they told you before all the chemotherapy?

Andrea:Right.

Interviewer: You have two to five years?

Andrea:Yeah.
