Alexis Patrice Jenkins

April 13, 1993 – August 15, 2017

Twenty- four-year-old Alexis (Lex Lexi) Patrice Jenkins passed away on August 15, 2017 in a tragic scooter accident while vacationing in Maui, Hawaii with her boyfriend. Alexis was conceived in Maui, Hawaii, born in Paradise, California and was the only child to Tim and Danielle Jenkins of Newcastle, California.

Alexis was taking summer classes studying Mandarin, Business and Real Estate and was planning a trip to Puerto Rico after her summer classes. But due to a major storm passing through Puerto Rico at that time, they were forced to divert their original plans and changed their plane tickets for Sunny Maui, Hawaii at the last minute.

On their second day of vacation Alexis’s GoPro captured Lex playing in the waves, it would be less than an hour before the tragedy that was to come. A tragedy that rocked very many lives all over the world and shocked a community.

That day they had rented a scooter named the “Pitbull” in the Kihei area of Maui. While riding back to drop off the “Pitbull” scooter, Alexis collided with a white work truck on a lightly traveled two lane road and was killed almost instantly. She took her last breath wrapped in the arms of her boyfriend who bared witnessed to this horrific accident.

Alexis lived the life of a highly sought after promotional model in the Las Vegas, San Diego and Los Angeles areas. She chased her life goals every day and landed opportunities that most people only dream of. Alexis modeled for many prestigious events such as SEMA, The Chain Smokers music video, she walked the Soul Train Music Awards Red Carpet, multiple fashion shows and even realized her dream of running for Miss California 2016.

Alexis was also a sports enthusiast and was blessed with so many natural gifts and talents. Not only was she beautiful, smart and athletic, but she also had a hunger and zest for life that few people would ever dare to follow these days

Yet Alexis embraced & shared her chosen life every chance she could with everyone she met. She seemed to easily excel at whatever she put her mind too. Alexis held a First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and was also known to be an avid golfer who made the Varsity team her Sophomore year. Wakeboarding, skiing and snowboarding since the age of five, Alexis enjoyed a variety of sports.

Alexis was snowboarding January 17, 2015 in Mammoth, California with top athletes. There was little snow that year and Alexis crashed on a Black Diamond breaking both her ankles and landing her in a wheelchair for five months. While in a wheelchair, Alexis informed her parents she is going to run for Miss California in December.
