Healing Your Hormones
Naturally
Can You Think Yourself
Sick?
Ah, hormones! They sustain our development, metabolism and sexual function and affect our health,
weight, and (of course) our mood. It’s vital to preserve a balance in order to support these functions.
Some believe being exposed to toxins and estrogen pills can disturb this balance.
If you are taking oral contraceptives, or follow a non-organic diet, you may have experienced neverending, troubling mood swings or perhaps increased cravings. These are signs that you may possess
a hormone imbalance. Other symptoms include fatigue, persistent acne, digestive problems and
nagging migraines.
Fortunately there are many natural methods of restoring this balance to improve health and vitality.
There is a strong connection between our brain and our body and
sickness can sometimes become a case of mind over matter. This
area of medicine is called Psychoneuroimmunology. Not controlling
your psychological stress may increase your chances of becoming
unwell. Yoga and Reiki are great methods to help you stay healthy
and present this winter.
The colder months can bring with them all sorts of uncomfortable
ails such as a runny noses, inflamed throats, muscle aches and (of
course) the flu. Many of these dreaded symptoms are a result of poor
immunity. Our minds are a powerful tool in strengthening our immune
system and yoga can be a great way of tapping into our thoughts and
actions to help achieve overall wellness.
To relax the mind takes
some effort, so just allow
the process to happen.
One way to relax the
mind is focussing on the
breath; this will help
bring our attention to the
present moment, feeling
calm and peaceful.”
Yoga works through reducing stress hormones and calming nervous system activity. The variety of
breathing techniques and exercises that yoga offers help improve the mechanical efficiency of our lungs,
leading to a calming and soothing outcome on the body and the mind.
YOGA
Yoga aims to improve the body’s overall circulation through
performing yoga postures. According to Crusoeden Body
Osteopath Dr. Kimberley Coad, yoga aims to improve the
function of the body as a whole.
“Our objective as
healers is to help
support a healthy flow
of energy within the
chakras for optimum
health and harmony.”
REIKI
According to Reiki, each endocrine gland corresponds to one
of seven Chakras- These chakras influence hormone secreting
activities. Crusoeden Body Founder and Accredited Holistic
Healer and Reiki Master, Jayne Boyle, says Reiki assists
in balancing the body’s energy systems and encourages
individuals to engage in a healing session.
The mental focus needed in yoga provides the individual with a
soothing outcome on the body and mind.
AYURVEDA
It’s okay to practice yoga if you are ill with a cold or flu. Good breathing
techniques during practice can help maintain the health of our respiratory
system, and may reduce stuffiness, coughing, and
