Hello, I’m Emma Thompson. I am an actor and writer by trade, but I am also proud President of the Helen Bamber Foundation, which is a charity that helps rebuild the lives of refugees who have suffered extreme forms of human cruelty, such as trafficking or persecution and torture because of their sexuality, or their religious and political beliefs. The people that we help often arrive at our door feeling barely human. The joy of seeing someone whose needs are so acute receiving the emotional, medical and legal support they need, seeing them gradually recover, is intense.

De vreugde om iemand te zien wiens behoeften zo acuut zijn, en die de emotionele, medische en juridische ondersteuning krijgen die ze nodig hebben, om ze geleidelijk te herstellen, is groot.
