Non-Line of Duty Deaths

Corrections Officer Rochelle Hornelaz, 32, passed away on April 29, 2013. She served two years with the Department of Corrections. Officer Hornelaz is survived by her parents, Yvonne & Rick, an 8-year-old son, Jarett, two siblings and more extended family.

Phoenix Officer Brian Micensky, 50, died of a heart attack on May 9, 2013. He served 18 years with the Phoenix Police Department. Officer Milensky is survived by his parents, Mike and Deb, and his children, Delaney and Jeremy.

ICE Agent Zachary Copenhaver, 31, passed away on May 4, 2013. He served three years with the federal government and previously served as a K9 officer with the AZ Dept. of Corrections. Agent Copenhaver is survived by his wife, Abbey, daughter, Macy, his parents, sister, and more extended family.

Scottsdale Detective Scott Much, 38, died of lung cancer on May 24, 2013. He served 14 years with the Scottsdale Police Department. He is survived by his wife, Angie, mother, Dahrl, sister and more family and friends.

Corrections Officer Juan Gomez, Jr., 25, died on June 20 after a car accident on June 14, 2013. He served over three years with the Arizona Department of Corrections. Officer Gomez is survived by his parents, Juan and Rosalind, sister, Paulina,

Mohave County Detention Officer Allen Scott Cox, 37, died on June 25 after being hospitalized for more than a month. He served 2.5 years with the Mohave County Sheriff’ s Office and is survived by his parents, Amy Jo and Scott Cox.
