Behind Closed Doors is interdisciplinary magazine
dedicated to the publication of research and informa-
tion on all aspects of the problem of violence against
women. The magazine assumes a broad definition of
violence; topics to be covered include, but are not
limited to, domestic violence, sexual assault, incest,
sexual harassment, female infantcide, female cir-
cumcision, and female sexual slavery.
It defines physical violence as being slapped, pushed,
punched, choked or being attacked with a weapon
,while sexual violence was defined as being physi-
cally forced to have sex — or having sex because a
woman is afraid of what her partner might do if she
refuses.
Efficient and accountable law enforcement machin-
ery at all levels (administration, government, police
and judiciary) is needed.
