Key Learning Areas (KLA)

English:

English is an important part of the curriculum. Students need to have good literacy skills to make it in society. Creative and critical thinking plays an important part. By having these skills students are able to enhance their writing skills, through critical thinking of essays, spelling, reports etc. Students are able to use creative thinking to develop skills such as, creative writing tasks such as narratives and poems.

Science:

Science opens up a world of observation and understanding of key aspects such as biology, chemistry and physics, while being involved to the sub-categories within them. Scientific inquiry promotes creative and critical thinking by encouraging traits like flexibility and open-mindedness. Students develop more sophisticated ideas through a scientific view of the world.

The Arts:

The arts is a very broad category, it consists of many sub-categories such as, music, drama, drawing, painting, photography and dance. Students are able to think creatively and critically, by making opinions and responding to artworks. They are also able to draw on their creativity by imagination, curiosity and exploring ideas and spaces. They also analyse, consider possibilities and process ideas.

Maths:

Maths is something that students will use everyday for the rest of their lives. It is important to understand the role that maths takes in the world. Students use creative ways to problem solve equations and think of multiple ways that maths can be used in everyday life. They are encouraged to think critically when trying to justify their choice of problem solving or picking out relevant questions.
