Women are gaining rights as America modernizes

Look around you. I can guarantee you one in four women are employed. Now flashback a decade ago. Women spent their times being stereotypical housewifes. They cooked, they cleaned, they took care of their husbands, and they took care of their children. They could not vote, because they didn’t have time or the rights to. But, that has changed. Ever since the 19th amendment was passed back in 1920, women’s role in society has been accelerating. Despite her rebellious nature, the iconic flapper has been seen almost everywhere. Women with short hair, short dresses, and cigarettes are just a symbol for modern sophistication. In addition to being able to earn money, vote, and become a flapper, new inventions have made lives even easier for housewives. For example, sweeping is now replaced by the vacuum cleaner, and laundry is made easier with the iron and washing machine. Could this be a sign for a flourishing century?
