Halloween
Every year on the 31st of October, people
celebrate Halloween. The word Halloween
comes from the phrase "All Hallow's Eve".
This special day comes from Pagan
culture, but these days the whole world
seems to embrace it. People throw parties
every year all over the world.
And we asked some of our friends to send
us their Halloween pictures. Here are
some of them.

Let's take a look at the story behind
Halloween. Why do people wear masks on
this day? There was a common belief that
dead people came back from the other
side and searched for new vessels. To
prevent possessions, people started to
wear masks. Over time, these spirits
evolved into goblins, fairies, demons and
witches, and wearing masks became a
tradition. Another Halloween tradition is
carving a pumpkin. A carved pumpkin,
called a Jack-o-Lantern, is the symbol of
this day. Also on Halloween, little children
with costumes travel around their
neighborhood and knock on the doors
with this question: "Trick or treat?"
