en and women store a reserve
of 600g of carbohydrates
naturally within the body. This
energy is stored within the muscles and
liver. Therefore depending on age, body
weight, muscle mass, fat mass, goals
and activity levels which varies from
person to person. An average woman
can only store between 70-100g of
extra carbohydrates within the body
before the body’s fuel tank is full and
overflows into the body’s fat stores.
Unlike women, men share the same
reserve of carbohydrates but due to
an increase in body mass, muscle
mass, fat mass and activity levels, men
can store up to anywhere between
150-180g of carbohydrates before their
body’s fuel tanks are full and overflow
into their fat stores.
It’s important to remember to keep the
energy that enters your body to stay
within your body’s fuel tank. If you over
fill your fuel tank, it will then start to
flow over, adding to your fat stores.
Remembering that everybody’s fuel tank
is different and varies on muscle mass,
fat mass, body type and activity levels.
