HIGHLIGHTS Yeshiva Welcomes New Rabbeim, Including Alumni RAV CHAIM OZER BENDER is our newest second grade rebbi. A graduate of both the Aish Dos and Merkaz teacher training institutes, Rav Bender succeeds Rav Avrohom Bender, who is now focused full-time on his duties as a menahel in the Yeshiva’s elementary school. He is an alumnus of Yeshiva Darchei Torah, Mesivta Chaim Shlomo, Beis Medrash Heichal Dovid, Yeshivas Mir Yerushlayim, and Beth Medrash Govoha, where he learned for nine years in the yeshiva and kollel. RAV DOV KENIG is an assistant tenth grade rebbe and serves as rosh chaburah during second seder at Kollel Tirtza Devorah. In the latter position he has succeeded Rav Chaim Altusky. An alumnus of Mesivta Chaim Shlomo and Beis Medrash Heichal Dovid, Rav Kenig continued learning at Yeshivas Brisk in Yerushalayim, at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, and at Kollel Netzach Yisroel in Los Angeles. In the Yeshiva’s effort to ensure that every child gets the individual attention he requires, a new member was recently welcomed to its educational leadership team, with the appointment of RABBI AVI TAUB as general studies principal of the Fifth Grade. A beloved and successful rebbi in the Yeshiva’s elementary school since 2008, Rav Taub is a graduate of the Mercaz Center for Teacher Training as well as the Board of Jewish Education’s Research for Better Teaching program. He is an alumnus of RAV MATISYAHU COHEN is a new the Yeshiva Gedolah of seventh grade rebbi. Rav Cohen was Montreal, our own Beis previously a rebbi at the Torah Day Medrash Heichal Dovid, School of Dallas, Texas. He is an alumnus Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, of Yeshiva Shaar HaTorah-Grodno in and Yeshiva Torah Queens, Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, and Vodaath. the Jerusalem Kollel, where he received semicha from Rav Yitzchok Berkovits shlita. He was also a member of Dallas’s DATA Kollel. RAV YOSSI SAUBER is our new third grade rebbi. Rabbi Sauber served as an assistant rebbi in the Yeshiva Darchei Torah elementary school for three years. An alumnus of Mesivta Chaim Shlomo, Beis Medrash Heichal Dovid, Rav Nechemia Kaplan’s yeshiva in Yerushalayim, and Kollel Tirtza Devorah, he is a graduate of Rabbi Yoel Kramer’s Merkaz for Teacher Training. RAV YAKOV SKOLNICK is a new seventh grade rebbi. A native of Brooklyn, he spent nearly five years in Minneapolis as an active member of its Community Kollel, learning, teaching adults and engaging in outreach. He also taught at the Yeshiva of Minneapolis and at the local Bais Yaakov. Rav Skolnick is an alumnus of Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel of Brooklyn, Rav Tzvi Kaplan’s yeshiva in Yerushalayim, and Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood. BEDARCHEI HATORAH WINTER 5780/2020 9
