For David Peterson , architecture is about much more than just making something pretty or functional . As a Professional Architect , OAA and Member of The Black Architects and Interior Design Association ( BAIDA ), he launched David Peterson Architecture in 2006 with the goal to create spaces that bring solutions to environmental and social issues in simple yet expressive ways . Design problems such as the restrictions of a flood plain or ravine bylaws have been the impetus for discovering a new approach to a home ’ s design with solutions that are expressive and uniquely styled . When asked what advice he would give homeowners , David says that it ' s important to remember that your home is not a real estate feature listing . When designing a home you will live in , there are immeasurable benefits to spaces illuminated by natural light and creating a seamless connection between the interior rooms and the outdoor landscape . When designing a home , these lasting values should be at the top of your mind . Many of David ' s projects have been featured in magazines and journals around the world and today , David is hard at work on a historic project renovating a building built in 1847 which will become a medical office where the new and old come together as an exciting new whole .

DP Our living / dining space has an outdoor room with views of a forest ravine that looks different from moment to moment as the light shifts through the trees . Each season offers dramatic changes to our living experience , full of every shade of green in summer to bright yellows and reds in autumn .
