WELCOME ABOUT US Hello and welcome to Kenya Aid’s volunteer program. ABOUT YOU Kenya Aid is an Australian charity that works towards improving the lives of people living in Western Kenya through the provision of quality health and education services. The idea for Kenya Aid began when a medical student travelled to a remote village in Kenya in 2003 and was shocked at the lack of basic health care services on offer. When he returned to Australia he gathered the support of a few mates and formed Kenya Aid - a charity that would bring basic health services to one of the world’s poorest communities. Kenya Aid is looking for qualified and compassionate health and education professionals to volunteer their time in Kenya. You could be a doctor, a nurse, a midwife, a teacher, a lab technician an early childhood educator or a paramedic - if you are committed to sharing your skills in a challenging rural setting then we would love to hear from you. Since its humble beginnings Kenya Aid has grown substantially. Initially established to improve basic health offerings in rural Western Kenya, Kenya Aid now supports a local hospital, ambulance service, community outreach programs and a school for 250 disadvantaged children. All this has been achieved thanks to a number of passionate and dedicated volunteers who have offered their time and skills to assist our local Kenyan staff in the development and growth of our programs. 4 Are you looking for an adventure? Would you like to gain an insight into the challenges faced by people living in developing countries?
