The artist (b.1987)
Entirely self‐taught, Nick has found great solace and self‐belief from going it alone. His greatest artistic inspirations are Ken Paine and his father, John Hoar, though Nick’s style ultimately owes much to a free and imaginative upbringing as the sixth of seven sons. Having grown up in Devon and spent summer holidays on the west coast of Ireland, he has always loved the outdoors and appreciates a wild landscape and dramatic changes in weather.
Past exhibitions
Laid Bare is Nick’s third solo exhibition, following Life & Music on Brick Lane in February 2014 and Impressions of Life, in Leadenhall Market later that same year. Life & Music was the culmination of 3 weeks spent documenting everyday life on a European tour with To Kill A King and Bastille, in which Nick was asked along to lend an extra pair of hands, but also with his artistic endeavours in mind. Fittingly, the exhibition featured a brilliant live performance by To Kill A King.
