The quality around to Redwood forest has been monitored since the 1972. The park is examining impacts due to human related activities such as road

building, quality of fish life, and the status of

amphibians in the area.

The park contains over 45% of all redwoods in California, so its water quality is very crucial to the west coast’s environment.

The main concern for its waters are from sediment and erosion. Many creeks including the Redwood Creek however, have been listed under the Clean Water Act due to lots of sediment for logging upstream. Tourists who visit the park cause erosion of the roads surrounding the parks. Environmentalists are attempting to improve the high sediment situation by reducing landslides and increasing maintenance for roads and drain systems. Overall, the water quality is great compared to many other areas in California.
