Sophomore Javarius Bell aids his bear buddy , Gresham Thomas , in putting on a jersey . that they see out on the field or court and gives them inspiration for years to come .
“ We wanted the little kids to have an opportunity to hang out and get to know the athletes that they look up to every game day ,” head volleyball coach Anna Cleere said . “ This also gives us a great opportunity for our program to have more of a reach to those littles coming up in BISD .”
The program was deemed a success by the facilitators . They hope to have it happen for spring sports and for the next years to come .
“ The response from all involved was more than I anticipated , we felt a new buzz of excitement in the Bear community as a whole and we want to continue that buzz into our spring sports as well ,” organizer Jiffy Hardin said . “ I think Bear Buddies was a complete success and look forward to continuing this as a tradition !”
