Entering the state tournament the great unknown for the Bearettes was whether senior starting point guard Allie Cooper would be able to play due to a stress fracture in her ankle . Alamodome officials had to use a cart at times to carry her to the team bus , but she displayed extreme grit by starting both games and playing 33 minutes against Fredericksburg and 27 minutes against Hardin-Jefferson . “ Allie will never , ever , ever get the due she deserves because she runs the show ,” coach Jeremy Durham said . “ When she is not out there it is obvious . I have known how tough she is and what a great competitor she is , watch one second of that game and it was obvious she wasn ’ t right . We just couldn ’ t take her out . I tried . She told me at halftime , ‘ I don ’ t know how long I can go , but I am starting . I ’ ve got it .’ She went the whole way and I don ’ t know that we win without her doing it .
