Bear Radio recaps the playoff action from its courtside positions

By Doug Shaffer KJBB 94.7 FM BEAR RADIO
This basketball season Bear Radio had the honor and privilege of broadcasting the Brownsboro Bearettes magical playoff run to their first ever state championship . In the first-round match-up with District 13 fourth place team Kaufman , we traveled to Eustace .
As often happens in first round match-ups between district champions and fourth place teams , the Bearettes trounced the Lady Lions 64-26 and moved on to the area round for their seemingly annual match-up with Texarkana Liberty-Eylau .
Unfortunately , Bear Radio was unable to broadcast the area round game from East Texas Baptist University due to an outage with our Internet provider in Brownsboro . The Bearettes prevailed 57- 49 in a very tight game versus an athletic Liberty-Eylau squad .
Next up was another squad the Bearettes have become very familiar with in recent playoff years , the Sunnyvale Lady Raiders . This time the Bearettes traveled to Crandall High School and the teams got to play in front of a huge noisy

crowd from both schools . Crandall had not set up a table for our broadcast , so as we have done several times this year , we broadcast from the stands among our own crowd . This made for a very noisy and exciting broadcast for this evenly matched game that went back and forth all night . The Bearettes prevailed in the end 50-45 and advanced to the regional tournament at the Field House at Texas
A & M Commerce .
At the regional tournament in Commerce Bear Radio was provided with an excellent courtside broadcast position with the visiting crowd only a few feet behind us making for a very noisy atmosphere .
In the regional semifinal the Bearettes were matched up with a scrappy team from Sanger . However , the Bearettes defense was just too much for Sanger and they won 41-27 to advance to the regional final against Dallas Lincoln High School . Lincoln provided another test for the Bearettes on Saturday and in another back and forth game the Bearettes pulled away at the end to win 45-39 and punch their ticket to the state tournament for the seventh time .
