This year the foundation also started doing student and teacher of the week awards with small prizes . “ We try to keep things going all year long so everyone can enjoy something every once in a while ,” Robertson said . They also do grants to students , for example their checks of $ 1,500 to the valedictorian and salutatorian , and $ 1,000 to the top ten percent . “ We think this is a good thing because as they are going into college they will need to buy a laptop or books , and this money will help them with that ,” Gray said .

The foundation also does smaller events to raise money for the staff and community , such as their annual golf tournament in the spring . “ We want everyone to know that we give 100 % of it back to the community for a great cause . We appreciate everyone that helps us do these things for BISD ,” Robertson said . Overall the foundation has had a significant amount of success , making it one of their best years yet . “ We want to make sure that every campus is benefited and appreciated ,” Gray said .
