IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Dr . Keri Hampton , and foundation co-directors Rita Gray and Brad Robertson pose with 375 turkeys for their giveaway .
Each year , the Education Foundation provides teachers with the opportunity to apply for a classroom grant . Grants open in November and teachers are able to submit an application for the Education Foundation to fund an innovative project in their classroom . The applications are then presented to the BISD board members who rate and average them to decide which teachers will receive a grant . This year , the foundation received 49 applications and were able to serve every single one . $ 52,000 were awarded to classrooms across the district . “ I would say that this year has been one of our greatest accomplishments , and I ’ m so proud of how well the foundation is doing so far ,” Gray said . When teachers are presented with their check , they are surprised with a huge celebration that takes place right outside their classroom door . “ We get the drill team , drumline , and more to help us celebrate which makes it an awesome experience for them ,” said Gray . “ We really love to see everyone ’ s excitement out in the halls as we tour the campuses .”
Every year the E . F . awards the top ten percent of graduating students a scholarship .
