THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION GIVES BACK TO THOSE WHO DESERVE IT MOST

The Brownsboro ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to enrich the lives of our students and staff by providing college scholarships and classroom grants to teachers in need of special funding for various projects and programs . The Brownsboro-Chandler community and surrounding business come together to share their generosity for a great cause : to build a strong foundation for students and teachers . The foundation started up in 2014 with a fund of $ 10,000 from WRL construction company . “ We saw that there wasn ’ t as much participation with the community so Mr . ( Brad ) Robertson and I started to co-direct ,” said Rita Gray , one of the directors of the Foundation . Since its start , the foundation has seen tremendous growth as they have implemented various programs to support BISD .

In order to fund their projects and grants , they receive donations from the community and several businesses from the Brownsboro- Chandler area and even surrounding towns . They also have an Employee ’ s Share Program in which over 300 employees chose to give $ 5 , $ 15 , $ 20 out of their paycheck to go into the foundation ’ s fund each month . The staff involved receive fun perks such as wearing jeans on various days of the week . The foundation raises $ 60,000 a year by this alone . “ Because of all of the staff donations , something we really wanted to focus on was making sure that we gave back to them in some way shape or form of appreciation ,” said Gray . “ Whether it be getting Nothing-Bundt-Cakes for the staff or giving them turkeys for Thanksgiving , we just want to show our gratitude to them .” One of their most notable programs is their annual classroom grant patrol .
