Meet The Maker Shirley Jones Moore - I craft, I design, I love, I laugh. Tell us about yourself and how you became interested in creating with seed beads? A friend saw a pair of little girl’s socks in a boutique with beaded fringe on them. She taught me to make them, and then I saw a bead store while on vacation, and took a class. They have captured my heart with their endless possibilities! You must have the patience of a saint working so intricately with all those tiny beads! What do you regard as the most rewarding/frustrating/ aspect of your work? textures or styles that I don’t normally work with really fuels my imagination. I was looking over some pics recently of my work, and realized that most of my pieces have curves somewhere in them. I love nature for inspiration, and take great comfort in seeing how beautiful something is in it’s imperfections. Do you have any special projects you’ve been working on lately? Yes. I’m thrilled to say that I was invited to be a part of the Beadwork Magazine Challenge. It will be in the Dec 14/Jan 15 issue. Frustrating is definitely when your thread I’ve also recently started teaching classes knots up! Most rewarding is when you see at my local bead store. I’ve taught craft a pattern marked as ‘Advanced’ and you classes for years to kids, so you would realize that you have the skills to accomthink it would be an easy transition. But it plish it! was rather nerve racking, and I definitely need to apologize to a couple of students for ‘hovering’. It is always rewarding to see What inspires your designs? when someone ‘get’ the flow of the stitch, and I’m grateful for this opportunity.
