We asked three accomplished metal artists to talk to us about tumblers to provide
some tips on getting started, tools and materials. If you’ve been thinking about getting a tumbler, or have one and not quite sure where to start, this guide should give
you some great tips of the trade!
What Brand Of Tumber?
All three of our artists recommended Lortone as their choice in tumbler. Heidi said
she loves the simplicity and reliability of the Lortone its “hard to beat!” Patti says she’s
had her same single barrel Lortone for over 5 years and never had a problem.
Ann also prefers the Lortone and recommends starting with the single barrel 3 lb
Lortone rotary as the best mid-range tumbler. She gives an alternative if this is out of
your budget then you can started with an inexpensive tumbler from Harbor Freight,
at less than half the cost. “It's noisier and won't last as long, but, again, much cheaper.” Either the Lortone or the Harbor Freight are available with a double barrel.
