Middle School
Impressionism in Year 6
Shenaz Nanwani, Year 6
The Year 6 has been studying and writing about
their new IPC unit: ‘ They See the World like this’.
The main concept that they have been learning
about is Impressionism. They also have been
working on a 700-word essay; in the essay, they
must write about the style and work of some famous
impressionists around the world. They also have to
write about one painting which they think is the best.
They have worked really hard to gather a lot of
information for their essay.
Other than doing just the essays on Impressionism,
they created an illustration of what they think an
artist does. A lot of people chose paintings but they
were many unique drawings. For example, Abigail
Sandoval from Year 6 drew a hammer and thought
of her artist as an inventor. Drishti Khatwani, also
from Year 6, thought of an artist as a singer and
drew a picture of that. The Year 6 has come up with
a lot of different ways to interpret the world.
When asked the question, what do you think of your
new topic - ‘They see the world like this’ - Zubin
Amar answered, “I think that this topic is very
interesting and fun to learn about.”
Aaryan Amar had a similar reply: “This topic is very
interesting to learn about because it is nice to see
how other people see the world.”
