Skilled basketball players from Years 1-8 bounced away
on the basketball court, defending their House’s honour.
On the 21st of February, the gym was filled with the
sound of cheers from Houses.
Earth’s cheering was prominent and teachers and
students chanted, giving their members support. From
Year 1, Earth won and the crowd went wild. After that,
from Year 2, Air won. Year 3 students fought hard to win
but in the end, Water triumphed.
Year 4 students played a nail-biting match but Earth
walked away the winner. The Year 5s had another
suspenseful match but Water ends up victorious. Year 6
played a match that kept everyone on the edge of their
seats but Earth has won once again.

The Year 7-8s, who worked extremely hard for their
houses, played the final match. And Fire won. In the end,
with a lot of crossed fingers, Earth claimed the title of
‘Basketball Champion of Beacon Academy’. All the houses
played equally well and, in conclusion, the Inter-House
Basketball was one of the most riveting events of 2014.
Free Clothes Day
Aaryan Amar, Year 6
Beacon Press’ second fundraiser event had
students coming to school in free clothes
after paying a fee. Students had a
wonderful time wearing colourful clothes
and hair accessories. Beacon Press would
like to thank all the teachers, parents and
students for their support.
