Quick ! Think of something you would pull out of your refrigerator for last minute guests . Aside from wine ( hopefully I am not the only one ), I ’ m guessing this includes an assorted mix of cheeses , meats , olives or peppers , crackers , maybe some hummus , dips , and cut up vegetables . Before you know it , you have created a personal charcuterie board that looks like something straight out of Wine World ’ s kitchen ( maybe not , but we can try ) and your guests will be thrilled .
Merriam-Webster defines charcuterie [ shär-ˌkü-tə-ˈrē ] as “ a delicatessen specializing in dressed meats and meat dishes .” While true , charcuterie , when used to depict a board or tray of sorts , has recently come to mean a whole slew of defi nitions . Everything from vegan , paleo , nut free , even candy-centric boards have populated Instagram feeds and become the new “ charcuterie .” Perhaps what makes these a hostess favorite is that you can quickly place all of your working pieces on a single tray and as Emeril would say , “ Bam ! You are ready to entertain .
