The day after the storm , the Sonder Project took immediate action with volunteers on the ground in Bay County offering heartfelt help . The shock and sheer magnitude of devastation and need kept the organization ’ s volunteers returning daily and working round the clock to help its neighbors . As word of the Sonder Project ’ s efforts got out into the shattered remains of neighborhoods , requests flooded in . People needed immediate help . The palpable desperation was everywhere . With rallying donations of food , water , money , and time from helping hearts near and far , the organization was able to orchestrate a highly organized daily operation of relief volunteer efforts that is still going street by street , neighborhood by neighborhood , and family by family to help emergency officials slowly mend broken homes and hearts . Debris and trees have been cleared from yards , roofs have been tarped to keep out the rain , and electrical and structural repairs have been made to homes . The Sonder Project became the hope that was so desperately needed and motivated communities to unite and fight for their neighborhoods .
