It was a chilly December morning when I passed through the main gates of WaterSound for the first time . My Mom and I stumbled upon an “ open model home ” sign we saw on 30A and we thought it would be fun to tour . Little did we know that beyond the guard house lay a neighborhood with homes bearing impeccably manicured lawns , towering facades , and the unmistakable Nantucket shingle style that reigns supreme throughout . As we headed South , newly built homes began to give way to sloping dunes that I would later learn dominate about 256 acres and span over a mile wide , providing a natural barrier between the community and the beach . After locating the model home and exchanging pleasantries with the real estate agent , we were invited to explore the space on our own , taking in what can only be defined as true coastal luxury . What unmistakably took my breath away was what occurred at the end of our ascent to the fourth floor tower , for it was only then that I could see the neatly winding boardwalks , pristine beach , and a vast and sparking gulf .

Established in 2002 , this piece of Northwest Florida paradise provides owners , and those who are fortunate enough to call this place home for a brief stay , a private retreat dedicated to relaxation . In my opinion , what makes WaterSound unique and truly relaxing is that it ’ s surrounded by water on three of its four sides and has a guarded main gate on its fourth , allowing visitors to feel a sense of peace , serenity and privacy , a feeling not always mimicked throughout 30A .
For several years , WaterSound stood as a community removed from town centers dotted with restaurants and shopping . Now , WaterSound visitors can find themselves within a short bike ride away from The Hub , located just east of main WaterSound . This vibrant food and venue scene provides reprieve for those looking for a more social experience . Whether snagging a delicious ice cream sandwich on a summer evening or tuning into the latest college football game come fall , The Hub serves as a nearby means for WaterSound folks to get out and mingle .
