Sonder : ( n .) the realization that every random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own . Each with a story to tell . Each with a
story worth hearing .
The Sonder Project is a global nonprofit organization founded to offer a hand up to those who need it most in this world . We realize that every single person on this earth has a unique story all their own , and that while each one of those stories may be very different , they are all connected , and all equally important .
Here in the states , we might be upset when the Wi- Fi goes down , or when the store is out of our favorite brand of coffee . Meanwhile , in other parts of the world , there are people living happily even though they have to choose between sending their son or their daughter to school , medicine for their children , or bricks to build a home . They still remain grateful when they have to walk several miles to fetch dirty water to drink that gives them parasites and sometimes life-threatening diarrhea . This is the story for too many people around the world living in extreme poverty .
These stories can be drastically changed . It is within our power to re-write them with different endings , happier endings . The end of extreme poverty is achievable within our lifetime , if we all jump behind the effort . It 102 is with this in mind , that The Sonder Project was born . Founded by Ashley Hamm , Jason Sprenkle , and Jeremy Sprenkle , of Santa Rosa Beach , FL , The Sonder Project aims to help end extreme poverty and hunger worldwide through high-impact , sustainable solutions , that offer proven results .
It takes so little to break the cycle of poverty . Whether you realize it or not , you can change lives for generations to come with what you spend on your morning cup of Joe , or can of soda .
OUR PROJECTS
PROJECT : educate
We all know that education lays the foundation for a successful future , yet nearly 900 million people worldwide cannot read or write . By building schools in impoverished areas , we provide the stepping stones to a brighter future . A future of educated adults , both male and female , who now have the tools to break the cycle of extreme poverty .
