Speaker's Corner: Tony Stratton
Why I love Living in Oxford
Oxford is a paradox. University or Motor works?
Broad Street or Cowley Road?
Summertown or Barton Estate?
Brassiere Blanc or Burger Van?
Not just a pretty post card town but not simply urban sprawl. Oxford has something for everyone and I guess that’s why I love it! I’ve lived on Shotover (In a wood but just 3 miles from the city centre) for 21 years and still enjoy showing friends around.
Want to see Epstein’s statue of Lazarus? (New College anti chapel)
Or a famous Pre-Raphaelite painting? (Keble College chapel)
Want to see where Parliament sat in the 17th Century?
(Convocation House)
Or the First public museum? (Ashmolean - 1683)
Fancy a great burger? (Peppers in Walton St)
Or a beer in a quirky pub? (Turf Tavern)
Oxford has its faults but I’m really proud of our city and hope you all learn to love it too.
