Bionic Boy By Stacia Harris, Communications Department The technology in our schools is amazing! It’s making a difference in our students’ lives more than you could imagine. Cody, one of our Progressive Education Program (PEP) students, was born with one hand and has learned to cope with his disability. He’s not a good candidate for a normal prosthetic hand because he would likely outgrow it very quickly. However, last spring, his teacher Ms. Teresa Cody shows off Hudson found an ingenious solution! Using a program his new hand. and instructions she found online, Cody’s new hand was printed on the school’s 3D printer! One layer at a time, the printer created this functional and custom fit prosthetic. This unique solution would not have happened without the PEP staff members working together to find a way to improve a student’s life! Cody works with his physical therapist to improve his range of motion and build strength in his wrist; when he bends his wrist, the fingers close and he is able to grasp lightweight items. Drs.
