Spanish Immersion
All of our middle schools offer exploratory languages like Spanish or French, but Koontz
Intermediate is in a unique position. Many of the fifth-graders have come from elementary
schools such as Glen Arden, which offers Spanish Immersion. In an effort to bring continuity
to this unique learning experience, Koontz also offers Spanish Immersion!
“It feels good because I get to be in a program where you get to learn another language that
can make you better,” said Jaden
Miles. “It also feels good because
your teachers come from very far
away just to teach you and make you
a better person — it is a great class!”
Spanish Immersion students learn
their Science and Language Arts
curriculums in Spanish, then
transition back to their English-
speaking classrooms for the
remainder of their day.
“I feel lucky because I know Spanish.
I can go to another place where they
speak Spanish, and I could speak to
them,” said Declan Brown.
