The greatest satisfaction I get from my job is being able to help people do theirs. When they succeed and have success in whatever I’ ve helped them do, that’ s when I feel happiest because I feel like I’ ve succeeded in what I was asked to do. I think part of that goes back to my parents. What they instilled in me was that when you do a job for somebody, you should do the very best you can. You should give it 100 percent and go above and beyond. So what I try to do with everybody that’ s ever asked anything of me is just do everything I can to help.
Nevertheless, the quality that’ s remained consistent is his ongoing interest in fulfilling the needs of those who come to him for help and direction while in pursuit of their particular assignments.
“ When you ask me for something, I want to give you a little bit more than what you need, whether you use it or not,” Muir insists.“ I like being the resource for people. And that’ s one of the things we’ ve instilled with the media outlets. If you’ re looking for a story, or if you’ re looking for somebody to help you build your story, contact me, because I can probably help. And if I don’ t, I can probably get you where you need to go. I just want to be that person that you can rely on. If I help you with your story, then I’ ve done my job, and I’ m happy with that.”
As well he should be. After all, he’ s the individual responsible for managing the Partnership’ s external and internal communications and media relations.
“ I’ ve been at ground zero, and I got where I am through hard work and making sure I’ ve made connections with the right people,” Muir maintains.“ It means not only sitting at a desk and a computer. When there are events, I have to be there managing the situation and making sure all the dots come together.”
Even so, Muir admits he doesn’ t fall in with the
stereotypical PR image.

“ You think in a position like that, you really have to be an extrovert type of personality,” he suggests.“ But I am so far from that. I’ m an introvert at heart, and even though they make me the voice and the face of the organization, that goes against everything I feel inside. I’ ve done it enough now so that I’ m comfortable with being in front of the camera or taking media calls, but in my private life, I am an introvert. I‘ m your typical wallflower.”
