Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award 2017 AkzoNobel Packaging Coatings Birmingham The AkzoNobel Packaging Coatings site in Birmingham has one of the best energy efficiencies for the industrial coatings sector as very low waste figures. There have been no reportable injuries on site in 2016, and no RIDDOR-reportable incidents. This site won the Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award in 2010 and 2012. Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award 2017 Farrow & Ball Wimborne With increased production, the Farrow & Ball site in Wimborne has maintained a high level of recycling which takes the landfill waste to almost zero. An internal project has seen waste reduced and hazardous waste has also decreased. They offer NVQs, apprenticeships, ILM Management development programs and other training to their employees. This site won the Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award in 2016. Crown Paints Darwen Teal & Mackrill Crown Paints in Darwen was a finalist for the Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award last year. This year, they have seen VOC emissions at a better than average rate for the sector. This site continues to have high recycling levels, with the remainder of waste being recycled for energy recovery, resulting in another year of zero waste sent to landfill. Hull Winners of the Coatings Care Progress Award back in 2009 and finalists for the Coatings Care Overall Best Performer Award two years running, the Teal & Mackrill site at Hull has seen improvements in energy use and continues to maintain minimal waste to landfill with almost all waste being recycled. Crown Paints Hull The Crown Paints site in Hull has become an ‘Investor in People employer’, with externally certified management systems and offer apprenticeships and other formal training. Waste has seen a change for the site in the last year; with hazardous waste and waste to landfill recorded as zero, and a high percentage of waste recycled. 24 25
