Dulux Let’s Colour
In 2011, Dulux embarked on an ambitious CSR campaign, setting a target to positively colour
one million lives by 2020. In 2017 they achieved this target with 30 months to spare. Dulux Let’s
Colour exists to bring colour to grey communities across the UK through three core initiatives,
each of which addresses key issues facing our industry and our society. These are:
•
•
•
Let’s Colour Project: uplifting painting projects with broad community impact
Community RePaint: a reuse network for leftover paint, making decorating affordable
on low income and providing valuable work experience for those finding it hard to
return to work;
Brighter Futures: an employee-based programme improving the life chances of
disadvantaged young people across the UK and beyond.
What unites these initiatives is a desire to improve people’s lives by creating lasting colour and
opportunities across the UK.

Merck utilize mica as a primary raw material in effect pigment production. These pigments are then
used in automotive and industrial coatings, as well as in the cosmetics and food industries. Mica
naturally occurs in many countries around the world. They mainly procure mica from India, where
it is mined in the states of Jharkhand and Bihar. Plagued by political instability and poverty, child
labour is widespread in this region, so they’ve taken special measures to ensure compliance with
environmental and social standards.
