Rise of the BBQ Hut

They are springing up and breeding, up and down the country, men and women of the smoke huddle up in shelters to protect them from the elements, while they tend their smokers. In recent years, it has definitely become one of the most important BBQ must haves...a roof...a few walls, a sense of belonging. The BBQ shack culture is growing at a fast pace, so here we wanted to look at some of these shacks and perhaps give you a bit of inspiration to build your own.

So where have these huts come from and what has inspired people to build them?

Well I know I got my own inspiration to build CWS HQ from a visit to New Zealand where the Bach or Crib is an incredibly important part of the culture there, it means the Kiwis can attain the quality of life that is well renowned by spending so much quality time outdoors. I remember BBQ'ing in the rain in a Bach there and knowing that I would build my own back in the UK for the same quality of life.

It is great to see these BBQ palaces develop, from simple shelters up to full on outdoor kitchens with all the bells and whistles made from high end materials. I have seen many a gazebo and pallet built structure, and some wonderful converted sheds, so you don't need to spend much to get a roof over your head.

I'll leave you with the pictures the members of the Outdoor kitchen / BBQ / Bar area builds Facebook Group shared with me, and urge you to join that wonderful group for inspiration on your own BBQ Hut build.
