Sekelbos – Sickle Bush

The Sekelbos tree is a spiny deciduous tree that grows up to 3.5 m in height in hot climates. The dead fallen branches dry naturally in the hot desert sun making this dense hardwood the perfect fuel for braai's, bbqs and fireplaces.

This wood is very well known for use with potjies and the smoke adds additional flavours to the meat you are cooking. This wood has a yellow colour and has bark unlike Kameeldoring. This is a very good wood for smoking purposes and adds a spicy flavour to the meat.

Mopane - Colophospermum

This wood is found in most areas of northern South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimababwe. This wood is extremely hard and is the longest burning wood that I supply. This wood is also termite resistant and is used in buildings and fence posts in South Africa as well as a great fire wood.

“It’s a fantastic thing, a very simple idea. Irrespective of your politics, of your culture, of your race, of your whatever, hierdie ding doen ons saam…Here is one thing that can unite us irrespective of all of the things that are trying to tear us apart.”

–Desmond Tutu, patron saint of Braai Day
