Welcome...
OUR SECOND home
game of 3 in a row
against Sunshine Coast
Phoenix.
First up some thanks –
really appreciate the sup-
port you provided to the
U14 Boys Fundraising
BBQ last week.
In case you missed it -
last week the Lady Capi-
tals game against Glad-
stone could not have
been any closer, all tied
up with about 6 seconds
to go. Gladstone time-
out and in possession for
the last shot and on the
buzzer they got the bas-
ket. While exciting for the
good crowd that came to
watch it is always tough
to go down in those cir-
cumstances and from my
personal experience you
usually walk away saying
“only if …and only if..”.
The best thing is we get
the chance to come back
this week and test our-
selves again.
The men jumped out
to a commanding lead in
the first quarter and nev-
er allowed Gladstone any
chance to get back into
the game eventually tak-
ing the game by 45 points.
In terms of performance
everyone was able to con-
tribute to the result.
This weekend will be the
second meeting between
Sunshine Coast Phoenix
and the Capitals Men we
last met in round 2 up the
coast. Both the men and
women took home the
chocolates, Women 72-
61 and Men 70-53. A lot
of things have changed
since then so there should
not be any complacen-
cy. The Phoenix Men are
coming of their first win
under new Coach Hesle-
hurst last week and will be
buoyed by that result.
In other news our senior
social competitions be-
gin their season finals this
coming week and we wish
all of the participants the
best of luck.
Thanks for coming and I
hope you enjoy the games.
