Parma Ham , or Prosciutto di Parma , is a Protected Designation of Origin ( PDO ) product , which is produced in the hills surrounding the town of Parma in the Emilia Romagna region of northern Italy , where every stage of the production process must occur . Parma Ham is made very similarly to the original air curing method , with the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma safeguarding and upholding its traditional production methods and premium quality . Parma Ham is made using only 2 ingredients – Italian pork , and sea salt – following strict and precise production techniques that have undergone very few changes over the years creating the delicious taste we know and love today . @ parmacrown
